Bakers Wedding Red Velvet Cak

Red Velvet Cake

1/2cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons red food coloring
2 tablespoons cocoa
2 1/2 cups flour sifted with
2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon vinegar

Cornstarch Icing

2 tablespoons cornstarch
1cup cold water
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla


Cream together butter sugar and eggs in a large bowl. In another bowl cocoa and food coloring, then mix in to creamed mixture. Mix flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and baking soda. Then mix it with the creamed mixture. Add buttermilk, vinegar, 1 teaspoon salt.
Bake at 350* F for 35 min, or until toothpick comes out clean.
While that is baking. Mix cornstarch and cold water in a sauce pan and cook until thick like jelly then cool. Cream together sugar, butter,vanilla then add to cooled cornstarch jelly. Beat on high until fluffy. Spread on cake when cool.
